A lyrical “analysis” of Aaron’s Party (come get it)

•October 8, 2011 • Leave a Comment

When I was a kid, a time where I was absolutely and completely musically ignorant, I IDOLIZED this child star. Aaron Carter. Seriously, I was obsessed with him. I talked about him all the time, I saw him in concert (2nd concert ever, first was Spice Girls), and I even saw the broadway musical Seussical when he was in it… Which I then made my Dad buy an autographed hat from him that I still own… Man, it’s a wonder I turned out even remotely straight. ANYWAY, I was listening to some of my FAVORITE tracks from his magnum opus Aaron’s Party and, while I’ve thought about it, it really hit me that the lyrics present on this album were in no way possibly representative of a 13 year old. The longer I thought about the problem presented, the more I found the lyrics ABSOLUTELY HYSTERICAL, and I decided I wanted to share them with you.

I mean, the entire premise of the song is that this Aaron’s parents are out doing whatever, and Aaron wants to throw THE MOST BITCHING, SWAGGIN’, BEEFY HUGE 10 OUT OF 10 BNP  party ever. Needless to say, things go get crazy, in thebad way, and hilarity ensues. I wanted to share this song with you, my friends, and  My five readers. With commentary.

These are the lyrics to the title track off Aaron’s Party (come get it), Aaron’s Party (come get it).

Witchblade is surprisingly good. Kind of.

•June 14, 2011 • Leave a Comment

I just wanted to do a quick post because it’s been a couple weeks. I’ve had the box set for the Witchblade anime adaptation that Funimation put out for two years now and I’m finally getting around to watching it. I mean, sometimes it’s hard to muster up courage when all you have greeting you on the box is a pair of tits. So, surprisingly, the show is kind of good. Yes, it’s cliched, there’s a lot of fanservice, and by no means are it’s characters too far from the ordinary, but the show is still enjoyable to watch. I’ll never rewatch it, but I’ve been having fun going through it. Now, there is actually one really interesting aspect about the show. The main character is a mother, who’se main concern is making sure her daughter stays safe. There are not very many action anime where this is the case, as the majority of the main characters in action shows are whiny teenage boys ( Blue Exorcist is generic as fuck). Even in the ones with mechs. So, even though the show has plenty of flaws and the fan-service is way beyond over the top, it’s somewhat refreshing. Basically, Witchblade is somewhat interesting and even entertaining if you just kind of let the witchblade fight segments pass by you and fixate on Misane’s, the main character, and Ryouko’s, her daughters, relationship with each other and the various characters in the story. I’d say don’t buy this, but check it out if what I said seems interesting and if  you have a netflix account… and if you’ve already watched the several dozen good series that are on Netflix.

Based Appeal

Do you know what this man is doing right now? If you don’t, well, I have some bad news for you. He’s probably fucking your bitch, and you’ll thank him for it. This is Lil B, The Based God, and king of Swag (fuck Soulja Boy). He’s a rapper from Berkley California who, in the past couple years, has reached some series popularity with a very widespread audience (also hipsters and bros) for being ABSOLUTELY FUCKING RIDICULOUS.

Favorite Openings in Anime

•May 21, 2011 • 6 Comments

I haven’t posted in over a month, and I’ve wanted to do a post like this for a while. I am going to post my favorite anime openings in no particular order. Now, a favorite opening isn’t just a good song or cool animation, but a combination of the two. I think, personally, what makes a really great anime opening is one that, if you watch it alone, without the show following (IE on youtube or something), it should bring you back to the anime itself. A great song for an opener should be able to arouse the feelings you felt and have associated with the show, and bring up some of the complex emotions. The video aspect of a great opening should. remind you of what you felt for specific characters and specific scenes that really struck you. Put these effects together by watching the complete opening, and hearing it, and you should feel as if you went through the show itself. So, for whoever is interested in watching a batch of anime openings (nostalgia guaranteed) or maybe have heard of one of these shows and want to check out more about it, have at it!

Samurai Champloo – Battlecry by Shing02 and Nujabes

A Great song by Nujabes (who will never be forgotten) and Shing02. Awesome and stylistic visuals that help display the tone of the entire series. A modern day classic.

15 Anime Movies You *need* to Watch

•April 6, 2011 • 2 Comments

I did a list of 50 anime you need to read earlier , and now, here is a list of 15 Anime Films that are, in my opinion, essential. Notice how it’s not completely filled with Miyazaki. Also, I’ve not seen Honnaemise, Only Yesterday, Jin Roh, or The Sky Crawlers yet. Also, Millennium Actress, which is regarded by many as the late Satoshi Kon’s masterpiece, is my least favourite Kon. It’s still a great movie of course. The Akira film is a pale comparison to the manga. End of Evangelion would be on this list but I’m considering that a part of the NGE experience, so watch it with the show.

  • The Girl Who Lept Through Time
  • Summer Wars
  • Evangelion 2.22 You Can (not) Advance (and 1.11 as well)
  • Princess Mononoke
  • Whisper of The Heart
  • Digimon: The Movie (The American Edit)
  • Perfect Blue
  • Tokyo Godfathers
  • Paprika
  • Metropolis
  • Time of Eve
  • Ghost In The Shell : Stand Alone Complex – Solid State Society
  • Tekkonkinkreet
  • Blood: The Last Vampire
  • Ghost In The Shell

These are all fantastic films. Watch them now.

Kingdom Hearts 2 is over five years old. Oh man.

•April 5, 2011 • 7 Comments

So, it dawned on me today that Kingdom Hearts 2, a game that in my opinion is both magical and one of the best video games ever made, was released more than five years ago. March 28th 2006, A quarter of my life ago, I was 14.  This, in my opinion, is amazing, scary, grand, and fucked up. Where did my teenage years go? I remember playing getting and playing Kingdom Hearts 2 for the first time like it was waiting. Hell, I remember what is was like *waiting* for Kingdom Hearts 2. Especially the last few months before it came out.
